Studiocanal’s movie about Amy Winehouse, called “Back to Black,” has topped the box office charts in the U.K. and Ireland. It made £2.77 million, which is about $3.4 million in dollars.
In the race for second place, Entertainment Film Distributors’ “Civil War,” directed by Alex Garland and starring Kirsten Dunst, debuted with £1.82 million, including previews. Meanwhile, Universal’s “Kung Fu Panda 4” earned £1.75 million over the weekend, bringing its total to £17.29 million after three weeks.
Warner Bros.’ “Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire” came in fourth with £1.18 million in its third weekend, reaching a total of £11.89 million. And Sony’s “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” rounded off the top five, making £787,000 in its fourth weekend, totaling £14.06 million.
There were also two Indian films debuting in the top 10: RFT Films’ “Aavesham” and Yash Raj Films’ “Bade Miyan Chote Miyan.” In the coming days, there are more films to look forward to, including “Exhibition on Screen: John Singer Sargent” and “An American in Paris.” Plus, there’s the release of “Jeanne du Barry,” “Abigail,” “Butterfly Tale,” “The Book of Clarence,” and many more.
